Circle of fifths, augmented chords, diminished scales, lead sheets, chord voicings...

And the list goes on!  With so many terms, symbols, and concepts, it's easy to understand why some musicians feel bogged down by music theory. But, a deeper understanding of music theory unlocks the door to discovering meaning and patterns in compositions, and allows you to more effectively communicate with other musicians.

Music theory lessons are offered for musicians at any stage in their playing, or for high school and college students taking music theory courses and need some additional help with their coursework. As a UNCA professor, I'm especially equipped with the knowledge of university-level theory courses.
